One must follow one's religious beliefs but in my point of view, generally, human beings should not hesitate to work for humanity and donation of blood should be for the sake of betterment of humanity. To save the life of one man is equal to saving the mankind. Moreover, the donation of blood should not be for money. In fact, it must be considered as the perpetual charity.
