Ceramic plates are the main products of sea trade brought by Europe merchants to Aceh in the past. In 1509 AD, European traders, mainly Portuguese, had anchored on the coast of Aceh in which ports landing in Aceh were the most developed ports of which were Pasee (now North Aceh), Pedir (Now Pidie, Aceh) and Aceh Besar.
This ceramic plates as the mainstay of European sailors when it was brought to Aceh to be traded by barter with the produce of earth in Aceh such as spices, areca nut, pepper, incense, cinnamon and others.
Ceramic Plates in the picture above is one example among the various types of ceramic plates that are valued exquisite art brought by the traders of Europe to Aceh in the past.
This Ceramic Plate drawing seems to be symbolizing the Flag of Turkey, where Turkey and Aceh in those days are closely related in trade, military and intellectual exchanges of Islamic scholars.
Ceramic plate similar to the Turkish flag is a pure relic of the cultural heritage of the past, where in that era Aceh experienced a significant peak of progress.
