Formerly during the Dutch colonial period, this Meukeutop rupiah called Kupiah Tungkop, this is now more known in the rupiah with Meukeutop. But there are still some people who call it Kupiah Tungkop, especially people Tungkop and neighbors around the village Tungkop. Kupiah Meukeutop comes from the settlement of Tungkop or more detail in the village of Rawa Tungkop Indra Jaya District Pidie District which was first made by the grandmother Sapiah in the Dutch era first.
According to the story of the parents here, in the days of Dutch colonialism is often there are Dutch who come to visit the house of Sekah Nek to see, take pictures of Kupiah Tungkop and Aceh house of the deceased grandfather of Sapiah. Besides grandmother Sapiah, there is also a friend of grandmother Sabi who make this Tongkop kukar together with grandmother Sapiah.
After he died, this handicraft was continued by his descendants. There are very few people who make this Tongkop because in addition to making a little difficult and takes a long time, people who make this tungkop not know where they want to be sold the work of their hands, so it is used by people who have their own distribution network and buy it from People Tungkop with cheap price.
Over time, more generations of Tungkop that make this Craft, yes even though there are also people from the neighboring villages that participate to preserve this rupiah.
