Funny you mention that. I didn't plan on having a one per month average, it just sort of worked out that way. One month I would read three books and others I wouldn't read at all. It really came down to how motivated I was at that particular time.
I try to balance my reading between business and philosophy. If I really like an author, typically they have other suggested readings in the back, or they mention people who have inspired them within their book. It's the same principle as going on YouTube: you start watching "cat videos" and somehow end up watching "how to make magic mushrooms in your pressure cooker at home." Half of the fun is going along for the ride. This helps me create a backlog of stuff to look into also.
