I've seen a few people flag whale posts when they are plagiarised and the whale essentially laughs in their face and tells them to 'grow up'. On top of that, the minnow that flags them barely makes a dent in their overall payout, and have left themselves open to a revenge flag from someone with far more power. Despite this I think it is less to do with fear and more to do with the 'whats the point?' feeling you get afterwards when you feel like all your effort was for nothing, even though it was the right thing to do to keep the platform pure.
I used to get really disheartened with people playing the system to their advantage, but doesn't that happen in life as well? As long as it doesn't directly affect me then there's no point in stressing about it because we can't change it unless everyone gets involved, and as someone has already commented most people live in fear of getting revenge flags and are unlikely to take on someone with that high a rating...
Minnows can't bother flagging whales unless they join a co-op like @flagawhale. But we can flag smaller folks.
Exactly right @littlescribe, we all pick our own battles and against bigger bullies we team up. The support is there and the projects working against plagiarism are working. We can simply support them and help bring their attention to any issues we find.
@lewisjfclarke, have you checked out the awesome community at MSP/PAL that I told you about a few months ago? Perhaps they will help bring your mind up a little and help you out the little ditch you see yourself in? I'm just saying with love and doing my best to help a mate without sugar coating with fluffy shit.
I just saw this by pure chance because my rewards said I got a payout for this post. Your reply didn't come up in my 'replies' folder.
I don't remember you talking about this MSP/PAL thing to be honest, and I have no idea what it means (Or a a lot of buzz words that are used on this platform for that matter...) all I know is I remember when I first joined this platform it was a great community who wanted to connect with people. Or maybe I was naive and these people who wanted to connect with me just saw a fresh newbie who would follow their site, and once I did they'd never visit my page again...
