I recently downvoted (flagged) an explicit PORNOGRAPHIC Hentai post that was not marked nsfw, as the post was truly offensive.
In response I get the following on my last 2 Posts:
And
I'd like to make some observations:
First: The 2 posts have nothing to do with each other. One is a funny video on youtube, the other is a post about how to make your partner happy.
They both get downvoted by the same users.
One of the users is obviously the one who posted the PORNOGRAPHIC Hentai post i downvoted/flagged.
I received all downvotes within minutes of downvoting that post.
Is this fair?
I assume that most of the downvotes came from the same person....
And all of them are from Indonesia!
Has anyone else had this problem?
Just because you find something offensive does not mean it's right to flag/downvote this.
Steemit is a free society, get used to different opinions and stuff you may not like.
The thing to do if it's not marked nsfw, is to put a comment and see if the author changes this. If not, contact steemcleaners to take a look.
If everyone decides what they think is right, we're back at being facebook.
BTW, I saw your post that you will downvote everything that you find offensive, how's that working out for you?
And to answer your question, yes flag abuse is going wild, but in my opinion you started this one.
Thanks for the reply!
Maybe my motivation was misguided, I could also just mute any user I may find offensive.
A painful lesson learned!
That's true, muting a a widely underused function.
Anyway, keep going, there is a lot of good to be found here.
