How or Why is this Even Allowed?

in #abuse7 years ago (edited)

I'm trying to understand what's going on here. I get that it's your money and you can do whatever you want with it. I get that you're trying to buy votes not to profit but get more exposure.

But how much exposure are you getting with a $75 vote value that took you $526 SBD to get?

Is this message that important to spend 2K on?

While I might have been a proponent of Bid Bots once, things like this have flipped my opinion about them a hundred and eighty degrees. This place has taken a one-way flight to the twilight zone with no return date back.

To allow something like this to happen is now in the hands of bid bot owners. You're all preaching about putting limits to spam and abuse of the system, but you're DEFINITELY abusing and profiting from this sort of B*llsh!t.

And don't come up with a counter-argument of "It is their/your responsibility." You know very well of what you're doing. You can easily write a few lines of code to not allow the loss of profit from bidders and yet you don't.

Sort:

i agree totally with your opinion....

What I'm saying is that these bid bots should NOT have even ALLOWED such a negative ROI to happen. Mistakes, intentional (none of my business what you do with your money), it should not have allowed rip everyone else off buying the votes.

@brupvoter bot has just implemented a never negative ROI feature, everyone needs to switch to bots that implement this = problem solved.

I was the subject of my submission. Please do not comment without investigating.

Exactly why there can never be an Utopia anywhere, human legendary greedy nature will always come to play.

I guess we need some little tweak in the system after all.

Maybe HF 20 will address these issues.

I am for whatever supports the health of the platform. It is everyone's best interest to support the health of the platform. The Steeemit platform is what makes Steem different from other cryptocurrencies. We have an economy attached to our currency. The behaviours that sustain and grow the platform need to be supported and those that do not, need to be phased out. I cannot offer specifics. I am still new and I do not know enough about bots, but I will reiterate. The health of the platform should be paramount. This platform is our gold-backing.

that is true

Thank You for being here and sharing Truth!

There's no censorship on Steemit. You can say the world bullshit here. It's okay. :)

It is straight up fucking bullshit.

Seems like everything but rape is being censored..

you sure the truth isn't intentionally being covered by massive piles of bullshit?

Good work sir
Keep it up

bots are a big mystery to me. and a lot of fraud going on.

There's not much to it. There's an account with high voting power selling votes on a bidding platform. The problem is, people, overbid well past what the account can give back in ROI in terms of votes. Bot owners win, the investor looses.

good work in the article.you are a good steemer.keep it up

i agree with you........

Well, this happens all the time - maybe not in these dimensions - but people posting some useless hatred post (mostly just a few sentences or a picture) and then paying bots with these huge amounts. This behaviour hurts everyone, is the essence of reward pool rape and also hurts the ones bidding in the current round for the bot for their mostly valuable content. This is done by self-righteous people who claim to protect the reward pool.
But in the end, it's not the bots to blame - it's about how people use them and luckily there are only very few who behave like that.

Disagree, the bot owners are to blame, they can add one or two lines of code to solve this issue. Like @brupvoter has done.

New users to this platform see the positive ROI figures on https://steembottracker.com/ and go a little crazy. I know i did. Mistakes will be made, it should be coded out.

Automated bots have no place in true currency exchange, there's only room for truth when dealing in True Currency..

Automated bots have no place in true currency exchange

I have bad news for you if you like the stock market or trading ANY crypto. Its all bots.

Friend, Thank You but I received this horrific news in 1985

I have Good news for You!

True Currency is not money, and steem is a tool to help teach others about the difference, including the steem creators it appears.

The good news is that none of the bad news was ever real, only Truth exists, and that's why nobody will ever truly "like" the stock market or crypto-anything.

We are here to eradicate human suffering and it starts with these exact fear-rooted lies about money, time and death.

💛

Yeah, that's crazy! I have only used the big bots a couple of times and usually only the minimum bid, 2-3 SBD. It is hit or miss. There are a few "minnow bots" that I use regularly. @thundercurator and @earthnation-bot are much more regulated. They are both less than .05SBD, have good, consistent returns, and interesting rules to keep it classy. Thunder actually reads every post and leaves a unique comment. Earthnation has a 3-day cool down to keep voting power up. I was also using the @qurator exclusive bot, but it got hacked yesterday, sadly :(

These won't get you anywhere near the main trending page, but can help get over the hump of no one seeing your posts. Humans are funny, and if we come across something that looks like no one else has approved of yet, we are much less likely to even consider looking.

Thanks for the post and sorry for hijacking the thread, just thought I'd share in case other minnows are interested. :D

You're not hijacking the thread, you're contributing to the discussion. It's just things like this is not sustainable. The only way to get noticed to buy votes and since buying votes for 500SBD can only get you $100 (much less after curation)....who's going to continue doing that?

Well thank you. And yes, I totally agree. Not at all sustainable and probably not a healthy practice for the platform.

Never say minnow again. No being of love is above another and we are not participating in an imaginary hierarchy or capitalist monetary system.

We are generating and sharing love while excluding all capitalist behavior as intentional way of life. Everything is fixed if we adhere to the truth and treat all lunging zombies like the walking infection they choose to represent.

💛

I'm a little conflicted on this. I think I understand what you're saying about an "imaginary hierarchy," in that our worth or status should not be tied to the size of our account. I agree with that.

Still, the term does carry some meaning outside of social status. It is a descriptive reality that the more SP you have the more bandwidth you have and the greater impact your votes have. I am willing to argue that these positions can influence the moral and social responsibility that you have, given the way that it effects how the system runs.

That's really the biggest problem with decentralization, it becomes this pseudo pure capitalistic thing where the ones who have the most resources has the most power

Absolutely. Decentralization is a form of privatization, which is a capitalist's dream scenario. I think open markets can be magnificent things. But I also know greed will always try to exploit the unregulated nature of those. A great decentralized platform needs to think about how those forces ought to be addressed and have parameters to keep them at a tolerable and functional level.

I have to reblog you..... Mr @adonisabril, so please upvote me... Good article mr, good luck

Steem cannot be reduced to money without reducing steem to money

When the honest majority here innerstand this foundational truth about the true potential power of steem..

That's when those who are stuck seeing money will no longer carry more steem than truly earned. They'll have to generate actual steem and learn to exchange love without selfishly abusing all of creation.

an even bigger issue than the 500sbd bid, is the fact that people bid afterwards when it was already running at a loss.

i noticed that too...

You can spend on it if it's worth it @adonisabril.

true

I can bet you that one of those bid bot owners was responsible for the insane bid to, of course, cause a loss for all the bidders at a particular point of time. It is like the bookies engaging in match fixing to cause an extremely unusual outcome and profit greatly from it.

The other reason why such bullshit, as you put it, happens is because most folks on this platform bid blindly without using the bot tracker site. If they did, they would have avoided this madness. Regards.
