This week at A’mara Books:
This has been another week where darts predominated as I have been actively following the world championships for the British Darts Organisation (and have been posting about it as well.) In fact, I’m watching the final as I write this.
That hasn’t stopped creative juices, however – in fact, it’s been a highly-productive week. (The housework seems to suffer first, lol.)
This week I wrote ...
Over 15,500 new words!
Head of the Neví received 13,000 of those words, bringing it to over 30,000 words now. That’s 75% of the way to my goal of 40,000 words or 67% to 45,000. I ran ahead on some parts of the plot knowing that I can weave the sub-plots in this next week. In fact, if I do as well this coming week, it will bring this book pretty much to a close.
new plot bunny – Tatia/Imre’s story is not currently scheduled, but will probably go along with Ciatra’s story in around the year 881 in the Terrenden Common Era. However, I decided to count these 2500 words simply because I am writing it expecting it to turn up at some point. For the time being, however, the majority of my emphasis will remain on this Neví series.
Editing
After reaching my target for this week’s words on Head of the Neví, I spent some time editing Name of the Neví - only minor edits found thus far, though I really need to spend some more time working out the exact aims of the Neví, the Uugli and the Yerdua especially. I’m not really good at thinking from the villains’ point of view – something I need to work on in order to make them more realistic.
Plot bunnies
Some of my readers may be wondering why I give in to plot bunnies so quickly.
- I love it. To me, letting a plot bunny run away with me for a day or two is relaxing. It’s the break I need from my main Work in Project of the moment.
- I need them. I’m sharing up to 1500 words daily on Steemit and Whaleshares. Unless I can keep up the pace, I will eventually have to find other things to share for awhile… I’d rather keep doing the writing that I love so much. Every plot bunny that I develop even partly is a plot for a future story – even if I don’t know where it’s going yet. Eventually, I’ll come back to it, pick it up and run with it for the next part of my sagas about Terrenden.
Navigation
My husband asked me to put the “previously” links on the chapters, so they are there now – at the top of the new chapter. As a result, it's now easier than ever to keep up on my books!
Alternate Universe?
Some say that writing creates alternative universes… is this possible? What do you think? I think it’s a bit too crazy to think that I’ve created a real world somewhere out there – with real people, with real powers… real gods/goddesses… who live and die at my keyboard… Shiver, much?
(#Supernatural and Chuck...)
Coming this week
- Another six chapters of Spice of Strength on Steemit.
- Another six chapters of Ocean of Empathy on Whaleshares
- Finish the first draft of Head of the Neví
- Get a better grasp of the goals that the Neví, Uugli, Balan and Yerdua have as they oppose the A’mara.
- Encyclopedia work to catch up with the Neví series.
Anyway, that’s what’s been going on here at A’mara Books this week! I hope you manage to take a few minutes to immerse yourself in my world of Terrenden – which I’m so delighted to share with you!
