We are a single earner family, My husband works while i am a stay at home mum of two very young children. Sometimes, budgeting become a challenge, with a high rising cost of living in the UAE, it can become tricky.
Saving and budgeting are our priorities. They give me peace of mind. I do read a lot about controlling your finances and being frugal and all that, i can say that, i try hard to adapt and apply it in real lives. It is not easy, it is hard, But it’s workable and it’s extremely effective.
It takes a lot of discipline and common sense financially. Once you get by from it, it’s gonna be easier and you will reap a massive benefits in a long run.
My ways to Save Money
- I do not buy what we don’t Need
- Shopping - setting a budget, making a list what’s needed and allocating a set time and day
- I make sure there is always a cooked food in order to avoid takeaways
- Meal planning is another significant in our budget
- Using what is available in my fridge or pantry. Creativity is the key
- Freezer is one of my close friends
- DIY is my Best Friend
- Hand me downs and flea market are on my list
- Save on utility bills by being careful using water, electric, phones and etc
- Quality and not quantity, This will save you time and money
- Pay ourselves first and the rest can be allocated for needs and wants
- I wait and ask myself if i really need it
- Lastly, Take care of yourself and your family
I tell you again it’s not easy, but you will get there. Teaching yourself to be basics will lead you to a peaceful, contented and rewarding life.
Surely there are lots of ways to save our hard earned money, and i would love to know your tips, Kindly share at the comment below.

I am already way further in saving as you are.
No television, fridge or freezer, phone just prepaid we do not even call once a year.
No trips, visits, no birthdayparties with a lot of people just with the kids, just shopping once a month.
Paying ourselves first means: pocketmoney once a month. Kids, me and dog.
No cookies, candies, soda, fast food, restaurants (unless we saved for it), potatoe chips, ice cream, etc etc.
We skipped the milkproducts, meat, fruit on most days of our lives. It is simply to expensive.
At this moment I eat what is in my pantry first. This way I hope to manage with 30 euro a month.
I quess life is hard everywhere.
