RE: ROMO: Relief of Missing Out

in Reflections3 months ago

I'm really guilty of this FOMO thingy because I hate missing out, but in contrast I don't have short attention span, because I pay much (too much sometimes) attention to everything I see. I don't want to miss a little detail...to the point that whenever I really like a series, I always try to look and read on its source material because I do like to know a lot of things about it haha. But as for reels scrolling, I don't know, but there seems to be a shortage of 15-second clips because the reels I encounter now are mostly 5 minutes+..They're usually crime documentaries (or even whole anime episode at times haha) or history stuff so I get immersed immediately, then the next thing I knew...I finished an almost half an hour fb reel. Btw, enough with that, yes—I do agree with this one...

Life is not scrolling, it is experiencing.

Experience is indeed the best teacher, and nothing can beat it by far, but the info you can get by reading is handy at times...especially for me, who likes writing stuff. It widens my imagination and it sometimes gives me more inspiration for the plot I'm writing, so yeah...I can't help but really binge read or watch for inspos.

That is honestly such a thoughtful way to see it, you are not just consuming things for the sake of it, you ae actually absorbing them. That kind of attention to detail is rare these days. But yeah, it is easy to slip into that endless scroll, especially when what you are watching actually feeds your curiosity. Because, I am also guilty of watching a random anime episode out of nowhere 🤭.

Just dont let it drain you, though. It is great to learn and explore, but your mind also needs space to breathe and live what you are learning, not just read or watch it. In my case, the best inspiration for writing comes when I step away from the screen and let real experiences fill in the blanks my imagination can’t. Thanks for such meaningful comment.
Peace 🕊

I'm guilty as charge haha! I mostly get trapped with what the algorithm have been feeding me lately, and it do drain me whenever I doomscroll. I do detox through doing other stuff that doesn't involve spending time on the internet. It gets me anxious when I don't do something, so I just do the other stuff.

My surroundings aren't really that inspiring, with all the shouting and noisy neighborhood. I mostly get inspiration from stuff that isn't chaotic, so yeah—may it be on the internet or in real life, I always grab the opportunity to be inspired by them :)

Btw, you're welcome, and may this new month give us the peace we need. Good day!
