Hi Friends!
In my previos post You could see the look of Omiš from the perspective of harbor area and old town.
Here Is a look of the town from above - steep way up to old fortress called Fort Mirabela.
Footpath there is marked and is not so long but it is steep and can be tiring for those with some health problems of in the top - can be a problem for those with the fear of hights...
I think it is worth the risk - tickets are not so expensive and the view from the path and the top of the tower is something special!
The Fort was built in XIII century and in that times was used by pirates as a hideout.
Historically the place never been conquered.
I really wonder how it looked like back then, because the monument itself is very small and there is really not a lot of space for a living...
Going up we finally reached the main top tower. Inside the tower we can climb up using old wooden stairs but the most tricky part is to go outside the building in the highest point. The only way leads by very narrow metal ladder through a small opening, so I am sure that if someone is overweight or is simply very large person - can have a problem in this point.
Top tarrace is quite small but we can finally see the whole panorama over the town, river and the mountains around.
Fantastic view and I think worth the effort.
I hope my pictures will give some idea how it looks like.
