The CFA Institute, which issues the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) designations around the world to finance professionals, has decided to add topics regarding blockchain and cryptocurrencies to their level I and II curriculums. The 3 level programs in considered one of the most prestigious for those seeking a career in the global financial markets.

The 2019 exam materials will now include these topics as a part of its Fintech in Investment Management section alongside other topics like Artificial Intelligence, machine learning and big data. They point to the need to learn about potential disruptive technology that could transform the global financial system.

”We saw the field advancing more quickly than other fields and we also saw it as more durable... This is not a passing fad.” -Stephen Horan, Managing Director for General Education and Curriculum, CFA Institute

This is interesting as it continues the shift of traditional financial institutions towards learning more about blockchain technology. As more younger professionals get involved, more projects, both public and private, will innovate the financial markets around the world. It also helps create a sound framework of ethics as the CFA Institute creates professionals focused on integrity and transparency which are aligned with the opportunity of the technology.

Another interesting factor is that the growth of the CFA Program has been concentrated in Asia over the last couple of years. This aligns with the higher adoption and innovation seen in cryptocurrencies in that part of the world which transacts more than half of the volume of exchanges on a daily basis. This will help evolve the sector as it matures and establishes itself as a financial technology and a new asset class.

I've read this couple of days ago on cointelegraph. I am in a process of learning for CFA and I want to apply for next June. I was so glad to see that they included crypto.

Its a great program! I wish you the best. Make sure you get those 300 hours of study!

That is impressive considering how serious the CFA Institute seems to be with investment management.

Another example of crypto adoption.

I'm just passing out some votes for the minnowuprising. Hopefully this will help me rise to the status of minnow.
