Overcoming Adversities

Grace and peace to all! Every day we go through tribulations, and you need to face your adversity. For this, we will take as an example the life of King David, who was a man according to the heart of God, and faced tribulations and adversities in his life, as the Bible itself tells us.

I - The Adversities of David

1 °) He Faced Great Adversities

We know that David faced great adversities, he knew how to overcome them all and still receive blessing from God.

David was a man who loved God, but who in some moments of his life was tempted and ended up yielding temptation.

It was in one of those temptations that God decided to send the prophet Nathan to rebuke him for the sins of adultery he had committed with Batseba, the wife of Uriah, a soldier of his own guardianship.

Not knowing he, that that sin would not be only against Uriah, but against God himself; because God loves the sinner, but hates sin.

We are going to analyze some of the attitudes of this king, before his adversities and his mistakes. We will also understand why he was a man according to the heart of God.

Learning to overcome adversity

a) Live every moment

While you are going through difficult times, it is important to use a strategy: to know the experience of each day. David wept over his sin with Batseba.

He remained fasting for seven days and prostrated with his face to the ground, worshiped the Lord (2 Sm 12:16). It is important to know how to experience each moment, in the presence of God, whether it is good or bad.

"These difficult moments of adversity, will serve to edify and perfect, after all," ... we know that all things contribute to the good of those who love God, those who are called according to their purpose. "(Rm 8:28).

b) They do not get scared

Do not be afraid, nor horror before your adversities; God controls the entire universe and is in control of his situation as well.

In (Matthew 14:31) it says: "And Jesus, extending his hand, took him, and said to him, 'You of little faith, why did you doubt?' This passage leaves Peter's fear clear.

Observe that Pedro's fear only had one serventia: to make it sunken. Do not go through the same situation, even if everything seems to have no way out, she exists and God knows where she is.

c) Every problem, has a solution

If you have a problem in your hands, believe you have a God in your life and face the problem head on, believe God has the solution.

Notice that David believed that God could heal his son, he humbled himself, prayed and fasted for the cause he had, Remember: God is in control of everything, all that moment that you are going through, it is only phases that pass through our lifetime.

Face Your Adversities

What decision do we need to make?

When adversity attacks us, we are often confused because I did not expect things to take such a different course, but I will mention here some actions that we must take in the face of adversity.

1 °) Seek the Lord

At the moment when we should look the most, in this passage it says that David sought the Lord, and fasted, to seek the face of man, Lord and obtain the desired favor. It may not look like it, but fasting strengthens the Spirit.

Fasting is certainly a practical weapon for every Christian, with him we strengthen the Spirit and we will come closer to God, to hear and be heard as well.

2nd Search the Lord in the Word

We must read and obey the word of God, it is our guide, our map is for her that should guide us, that she has comfort and guidance, not to mention that the Bible is God speaks to you, see what James 1 said: 22:

"And be obedient to the word, and not only hearers, deceiving yourselves." We have to read and fulfill because everything he has written in the Bible is the word of God, they are commandments, statutes, we must not only hear and he does position us.

3º Look for the Lord in prayer

See what David spent prostrate night on earth praying, (2 Samuel 12:16) seeking God for the child. We must also follow this example of perseverance, the Bible says that the prayer of a righteous person can be very effective.

Do not be afraid, shame or any other negative feeling, stay in a quiet place and talk to God. He knows everything you need, but he wants to hear you talk.

Receive these suggestions, and keep going
Keep in mind that when David lost the child, the anointed rose himself was nourished for admiring his servants in the palace: "And he told his servants to him, what have you done? For the child alive you fasted and cried but after the child died you got up and ate bread.

David knew very well, that he could do nothing for the life of the child; He changed clothes, he fed and went to the house of the Lord to worship him. Affliction, resentment and grief must be withdrawn, we need a bath of grace and mercy.

(Ps 27: 4,5) "One thing I asked of the Lord, and I will seek it: that I may live in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to contemplate the beauty of the Lord, and to inquire in his temple. Because the day of adversity will hide me in his tabernacle: in the hidden one of his tabernacle he will hide me, he will put me on a rock.

Help others, have empathy
A feeling that is distancing itself from people: empathy, people no longer worry about what their neighbor feels, or is happening.

Many times they think that the difficulty that the neighbor is going through is because it has to happen even, and that is not true, we are here to help each other, remember to say Santiago: "The one who knows how to do good and does not do it He commits sin. "(Tg 4:17)

Pray for a brother, who is going through difficulties, is very good, but look at his wardrobe, see his needs, and help in silence. It is better yet. David, sought to console Batseba (2 Sm 12:24 a).

King David, despite the unfavorable conditions, did not stop, tried to act and in a certain way to the point of reaching the mercy of the Lord.

He took attitudes during the tests, faced the problems and kept going, not looking back. We must have similar attitudes, keep looking forward to the author and consumer of our faith....
