Anandamayi Ma

Anandamayi Ma, the Blissful Mother

By the grace of God and Youtube I just enjoyed 90 minutes of pure bliss, Darshan, watching a documentary about Anandamayi Ma.

Ma´s Samadhi in Kankhal

My first encounter with Ma was in her Samadhi in Kankhal, Haridwar, India in 2007, when I sat there meditating and suddenly was overwhelmed and tears started flowing uncontrollably.
No tears of mourning, no tears of joy, it was more of a cleansing and afterwards I felt much lighter and refreshed, all tensions gone, a spiritual shower.
At that time I was quite surprised, because I was a disciple of Swami Sivananda of Rishikesh, and in his Samadhi I had not had such a strong spiritual experience.
It is not for nothing that he called her "India´s sweetest rose".

And if you listen to the two Greats of Sivananda ashram in this documentary, Swami Chidananda and Swami Vimalananda, you can feel that they consider her to be on a whole other level, and they exhibit a veneration usually reserved only for their own guru, Swami Sivananda.
I used to serve as Swami Vimalananda´s interpreter, whenever he gave talks to our group during our visits to Sivananda ashram and it sure was a blessing to have been able to be in the presence of a direct disciple of Swami Sivananda, imagine what it must have been like to be directly in Swami Sivananda´s or Ma´s presence.

Swami Vimalananda left his body on June 9 this year.

Swami Vimalananda being prepared for his final journey at the ghat of Muni-ki-Reti, Rishikesh.
Swamis, the twice-born, are not cremated, since they have died already once by renouncing, they are committed to a holy river, preferably the Ganga.

The mother of all darshans. Enjoy! Jai Ma!

And if you have the stomach for the real India, the graphic India (enough trigger warning?), this is a video of Swami Vimalananda´s final journey.

This makes me want to jump on a plane! India has called my name for far too long now, and yes, the raw-real-alive India speaks to me and is no doubt softened for me by having seen and lived much the same here in Thailand for 16 years. No manicured death experiences here - I have personally dressed a 16 day old corpse, so I think I can handle India. :) Hoping to meet you sometime in the next year or two. :) Appreciating the video link about Ma - I need spiritual encouragement and input and a lifting of my sights to other realms tonight - I shall enjoy to watch before sleep. Thank you. Stunning post.

@ecoTrain

I wish you that you can make it sooner than later because India is changing fast.
Big changes now compared to when I was there first in 1992.
But in a way it is the same since thousands of years, that´s her beauty.

It must have been an incredible experience being with Gurus of such high level of enlightenment, truly a blessing.

I think I'll skip that second video (thanks for the warning). I love that you're highlighting Anandamayi Ma. I never had the chance to visit her ashram, though I have had the good fortune to meet several amazing gurus and sometimes visit their ashrams. I also had the experience of crying uncontrollably in the presence of one. After that day my life dramatically changed.

Friend, consider using the palnet tag sometimes. This post could have been given it and then my upvote would give you both STEEM and PALcoin. It seems I've got a pretty healthy stack of it, and actually a bigger upvote in it.

Thanks for the palnet advice.
I am not posting that much, but I try to remember for some other post.

Wow - powerful spiritual post. I very much want to one day be in the presence of some highly enlightened beings such as you. I can sense how much it impacted you. Thank you for sharing such a powerful and beautiful story. Much love and blessings to you.

Thanks!
And if we ever meet, you give me the SB 40 treatment,
to see wether I´m really enlighted, or not. 😘

SB 40 treatment:
"To see if somebody is really enlighted,
you beat them forty times with your sandal and see how they react.
But don´t try it on me, I´m not enlighted."
