Herrrooo Dreamers,
A Winter Wonder Dreamland is upon us!
QUICK OVERVIEW OF LAST WEEK'S DREAMIN'
RETRO FRIDAY :
We had quite the throwback Retro Friday evening. Due to sinister1 being busy with all important things, (because well he is an all-important man didn't you know?) we reverted to our classic format for Retro Fridays.
The viewers' choice winner, Illusion of Gaia, was the only game we played all night and made tremendous leaps and bound in the overall story line. We learned some fancy new moves like a power slide and dark-power friar for our alter-ego Freedan. A quick reminder our goal is to 100% the game, voice-acting by me and have full chat inclusion and how to solve each situation and puzzle presented to us.
We amassed many kills and level ups (without grinding) which allowed us to be right on par with our "recommended" levels when dealing with each and every boss. The toughest boss I have had to fight all game was the Vampire and Vampiress double combo. Their quick movements, the tight corridors we were forced to fight in and both sporting a full stack of health made the battle treacherous. A handful of deaths later we came out victorious even though we had wasted quite a few medicinal herbs in the process. As we continued our journey we wrapped up the evening by solving the riddle of Angel Village and its underground dungeon. We saved Kara (who had been turned into a painting) and quickly departed to Watermia with the rest of our friends as the night came to a close.
STRESSED SATURDAY :
Bloodmoon strikes again!
We had another great start to the evening in Darkest Dungeon as we continued to clear out Apprentice and Veteran level bosses with little to no struggle. However, our one encounter with a Champion level dungeon immediately turned into disarray and total mayhem. We lost 2 more characters and the stress levels are rising.
TOTAL DEATHS : 11
ALLOWABLE DEATHS : 16 (really it is 15 as a 16th death will automatically DQ our Bloodmoon Challenge)
We lost a few level 5 characters which really dampened the mood of our other comrades. We quickly transitioned over to Necromancer% and tried our luck for a few rounds but ended up empty-handed in our attempt at Sub 24 minute.
SPEEDRUN SUNDAY :
Who saw this coming?
I had practiced all day long with sinister1 for new strats for Chip 'N Dale: Rescue Rangers Co-op Any% because it was time to take the training wheels off and go for broke. After all that practice was put in I needed to de-stress by hitting the gym hard.
After getting that pump, I was motivated to finally get a sub 43 minute Mega Man X 100% and decided the night would not stop until I had done so including a single Mega Man 2 run. Well, Dreamers we came close on the first run, and then got even closer on the 2nd run, and then FINALLY on the 3rd run we came through with flying colors. Our new PB for Mega Man X 100% is 42:47.
You won't believe it, but the hyped up energy from that success on the run before had me locked in on Mega Man 2 Normal, zipless. It had been months since a PB for Mega Man 2 and then the focus hit one more level of intensity. I could hear the colors, the music became the beat of my heart and we hunkered down on the Wily levels and secured an ultra clutch left-side Alien Wily kill (the final boss of Mega Man 2). After megamanleaderboards reviewed the video they credited me with a 30:20 even though when I split it was a 30:21. The 30:20 moved me into a top 20 spot which is a coveted place for me as this is the first speedrun I ever decided to delve into.
TURTLE POWER MONDAY :
Back to our usual scheduled broadcasting of Turtles and Turtle Soup.
Our 3rd attempt of the night ended in ruckus success. We missed the elevator skip (which is a 3-frame window to skip a double cut scene and a 14.1 second time save) but we had gold splits on Super Krang and Krang that took us from over 17 seconds behind to 0.6 in the green! We stayed focused and took down Super Shredder efficiently and gained another 0.1 seconds and improved the World Record for TMNT IV : Turtles in Time Co-op Any% Normal 20:23.
The rest of the night was spent improving levels and constant near misses that has us eagerly awaiting the next Turtle Power Monday.
ANIME NIGHT :
From Dandy to Psycho. We transition from happy go lucky, to are you inherently a criminal based on your thoughts alone?
PSYCHO-PASS
Psycho-Pass's setting is in seemingly future-minded Japan where the Sibyl System, a powerful network of psychometric scanners, actively measures the minds and mentalities of civilized people using a "cymatic scan" of the brain and its workings. Psycho-pass is the term of the results of the acquired assessment. There are levels within the system to help project a likely outcome, in hopes of preventing future crimes especially heinous ones. The index is named Crime Coefficient, and when it exceeds an accepted threshold, he or she is pursued, apprehended, and killed (only if necessary) by police forces. These police forcers are comprised of Elite officers labelled Enforcers that are equipped with large weapons called "Dominators"—special handguns that only activate when aimed at suspects with rising or over-the-top Crime Coefficients. Enforcers are a part of the new system of "reforming" latent criminals and are chosen for their jobs specifically so. These latent criminals are overseen by police Inspectors, who have the jurisdiction to shoot them with their Dominators should they pose a danger anyone, including themselves.
This series has me wrapped in with it's compelling story line, its heart-pumping music, and its flare for the dramatics. We were able to go through 5 episodes this week on Anime Night and I look forward to what is to come on our next Anime night as this series possesses 2 seasons of jaw-dropping action and twists!
