This is the period when all the noise makers are being flushed out of the space, the shills are becoming increasingly evident and those that will survive are starting to evolve already. We must ask ourselves; what category do we belong in?
Are we part of those that will phase out or will we evolve and grow?
I was telling someone the other day that the market needed some cleansing, however, the steem blockchain needed to be careful so as not to be cleansed with it. We started out great, however, the whole attitude of promise and fail is increasingly becoming utterly disgusting. If we are to move forward as a blockchain, we must be will to evolve past waiting on chances and actually delivering on the promises made to us.
With everyone expecting Smart Media Tokens lite to launch in Q1 of 2019 (without any fails this time around), all hands have to be on deck to keep this ship afloat till then.
I have been receiving so many queries and questions regarding the true state of the blockchain especially with steemit.com and while I am not the CEO of Steemit Inc. I will do my best to give a general reply.
To the best of my knowledge, steemit.com is not going under, they are currently just being cautious by putting measures in place to ensure that they don't go belly up. The only thing is that I guess they forgot to put measures in place to generate revenue coupled with the heavy dependency of dApps on the blockchain to reduce the cost of running nodes and that has put them in a position where in other to deliver, they have to put the end game in play.
The honest truth is that steemit.com is just one of the numerous ways to interact with the steem blockchain and even in the event that it goes under, we still have numerous ways of interracting with the blockchain (or our funds). There is busy.org which has been doing a fantastic job, there is esteem by @good-karma which has also been doing exceedingly well and so many others. Blogging is one of the possibility of this social blockchain and we can explore so many more.
Speaking of so many more, the reason why steem is undervalued is because investors don't think it good enough yet and that is simply because we have not given them a good enough reason to hold steem. The conventional blogging is not a good enough reason, we have dApps for sure, but, we need something to give life to those dApps without having to continually issue steem directly.
One major problem is that steem as a currency is being issued just about anyhow and most of it is being dumped on the open market. Every currency requires spending to be considered as adoptable, however, the aim is not to convert everything to fiat because of our little needs. The aim should be to be able to spend it on goods and services within the steem ecosystem not spend it all on fiat. When we don't hodl some and just spend everything, we ddump everything and drive the value down, essentially killing the very thing we claim to love.
SMTs hopefully will change that. How if you may ask, it will give dApps the power of issuance in terms of their own sub-currencies while reducing the excess strain on steem. Investors willing to access any dApp will need to power up (essentially holding steem and driving up value) and invest indirectly in the dApp(s) by either curating or delegating. The sub-currencies from the dApps are tradeable which in turn solves the need for spending.
SMTs will be a game changer (if they are delivered before we lose the first mover's advantage) when launched and we should all be ready.
The good news is that we can be among the early birds. There are dApps like @steemhunt, @dlike, @appics and come others which are already distributing tokens, why not become a part of the early movement?

This is quite elaborate and the "Plain Truth", I believe the SMTs will come as at when due without further delays because any further postponements nay not augur well with some investors watching closely.
Sad to say, one of the Dapps you mentioned are bothered about the SMT delay and are considering a move out of the Steem blockchain seriously.
I wish the Steemit Inc will channel all energy into bringing SMTs to fruition.
