Tree Tuesday

in #treetuesday6 years ago

Seriously, Maine! It's only July!! There is always natural beauty decorating the Northern part of Maine, but, this is a fluke as the majority of it is still green. September brings on the kaleidoscope of color and the throngs of people for the annual leaf peeping!

Today is #treetuesday initiated by @old-guy-photos! Let's see those trees! If you post one, be sure to link it here

This was the view from the ferry that runs between Bar Harbor and The Schoodic Peninsula. This really did not do it justice, but, it was pretty early this morning and the sun almost didn't have a chance to shine. I have taken it to Winter Harbor, which is actually my preferred place of peace and tranquility in Acadia National Park. But, for today, Bar Harbor it is. The temperature is a nice 68 degrees Fahrenheit or 20 Celcius, but the temperature will climb higher as the day wears on.

Mount Desert Street Cemetery is also known as "The Village Burying Ground" and was established in 1790. Sea Captains, wives, children... The stones are almost all white and different shapes, all very eclectic. I walk through and read some of the inscriptions and notice the typology, so very interesting. Some I understand and the others I am taking pictures of so that I can look them up. I don't recognize some of the symbols.

Maine 2.JPG

It is located between the Congregational Church and Episcopal Church right there in downtown Bar Harbor.

Old Victorian Houses line the streets and dot the shores. The entirety of the town is framed by the lush landscape.

A tree huggers paradise.

Maine 10.JPG

Of course, there are lobsters here. It is all about the lobster! However, look beyond the lobster to the background. A sea of green.

Oh, yes.

Maine 13.JPG

Lest you think I have forgotten, I haven't. Let there be flowers. Always.

Maine 11.JPG

I was walking by the bakery and there is an open window where the pie was cooling. Hmmmmm! I'm not sure I will be able to resist! I am pretty sure this is what delicious smells like!

Maine 8.JPG

I am running out of time, so I will end it here, but, I hope you enjoyed walking about with me here in Bar Harbor, Maine. I am sitting in the park with my free wifi putting this post together. Thank you, America. Land of the free. :)

Don't ever forget what wonderful world we live in, people. Let's hold hands around the globe and make this earth really spin. Some days, it is not as easy to see, so we must try harder to give everyone the proper focus.

Sort:

Leaves turning already...welcome to my world. Hey we had out month and a half of summer, bring on the winter now lol.

Oh yes the land of the Lobster! I know it is nicknamed the Pine Tree State, but I think some of the south could put up a pretty good challenge to that.

Thanks for taking us along.

You did not have a month and a half of summer! It has been summer for a month and a half, but, very rarely visited there! ;)

Tip!

OMG! I just upvoted me instead of you! Ugh!

Pfft I see what you think of the Old Guy :( lol

OMG! Look again, diva. I deleted your first vote and then had to give you another vote. Next time, I will just leave it. Pfft! You cost me double!

I know Princess hence the "lol"

You are a bully and a diva OMG!

I am worth double!

200% ????

You are a total diva! Face it!

It's beautiful in Maine! In English, "Maine" means "tomorrow" ...
Lobsters in the wood? I have to admit, I've never eaten lobster.

Lobsters in the Wood That is a place that sells freshly caught lobsters. They have picnic tables and they will steam them for you and you can eat them right there- or take them home. :)

Maine means tomorrow? Ah!!! Thank you!

Tip!

I think lobsters are very tasty. I just ate crayfish ... I think their taste looks like a bit !?

They taste very different, in my opinion. Lobster is a much sweeter meat.

I think so, because the water they live...sweet and salt.

Wonderful stroll in your company my dear Lady D ! =))

Oh, my @luigi-the-gnome! Thank you!It is always so wonderful to have you along! XO

Blimey that is an early fall (autumn)sign. Leaves turning already!? I'm just getting used to summer lol
The Victorians knew all about funereal art. It is an area worth a look to find the symbolism of the 'boneyard'. :)

Nooo! I am in one of the Northernmost states for a couple of days and it was a fluke. The rest of the area is green! :)

It is where I used to spend some time in the summer growing up, but, it was very much different than what it is now. The Victorians were a breed all of their own, artist in their own right. Cemeteries are one of my favorite places to peruse in a strange old town. Dead people tell no tale What a lie that is! ;)

Hi, Michael! Happy Wednesday!

A pie on the window sill ... that is some Americana. Lovely visit to Maine you let us tag along on:) Wonderful, Denise:)

That's the way we do it in 'Merica. It is always so beautiful in New England. I really need to move back to it. LOL

Tip!

What a picturesque area! Beautiful photos, Denise

Thank you so much, Keith! I do love Maine and the coastline is always beautiful, no matter what time of year!

That is a freak of nature or nature has been so over the place this season even the trees are confused,

I saw very few, but, I was surprised to see any! The trees are definitely confused! LOL

I understand them being confused,m the weather is confusing me as well LOL

Aren't we all?? LOL You don't have the corner on that market!!!! :)

Phew glad it snot just me

Hi, really nice pictures. I love them🤗

Thank you so much! That is so kind of you!

I would love to see those yellow-orange colors covering the trees... All I get here is green... I don't even think Caribbean trees knows how to change of color 😅

They really don't!!!

Didn't you guys just get summer? Already the leaves are changing? Wow! That was one short summer!

I took a quick little hop to Maine and it was a fluke, seeing the colors. Summer is in full swing, I assure you! :)

Summer heat and humidity can be brutal but winters are much worse...

We went to Maine last year for a day trip from New Hampshire. It is such a beautiful part of the country! I really want to go back to actually make it up to Acadia next time.

On a side note: went into Michael's today and they already have fall stuff out so I saw orange leaves, too. 😂

I have been to Acadia many times, but, being as it is right here, I will suffer and go again! Oi!! Michael's is so fired!

At least it isn't Christmas, right? Oh, wait. That is in August!

Oh gosh, Christmas is sure to be just a few weeks away! Haha!

To be fair, school is starting here August 1st, so I think everyone always associates that with the Fall. Even though it will still feel like summer until October...

Here too and we are so much further North than you!

Tip!

I very much enjoyed your walk around Bar Harbour @dswigle. I love the look of that pier and all the lobster pics you uploaded lately. Ours are puny in comparison. #sm

I know! I have gone back twice to New England since I got home from vacation. I think I am just missing home. ;)

You do have tiny little lobsters!

Tip!

I haven't made it to Maine yet @dswigle. So many places on my list still to visit.

thank you for the tip. 😊

You are welcome! My list grows every single day!

Yes! :)

It's a beautiful place!

Thank you!

Some really interesting shots to check out today and today the shots are very professional high quality stuff as always :D

Thank you so much!

When we lived in NY for 6 years, I figured out something. The natives thought I was nuts but I saw it year after year. Probably I saw it because I relate to @blacklux. Trees that change color were a complete novelty to me. I grew up in Texas. They are either green or brown, there is no in-between.

Anyway, this: The little trees down in the swamp were the first to turn color and they usually started giving off hints around August first, absolutely by the 15th.

This year, my husband is swearing he's starting to see hints of the color change already here in S. Kentucky. I dunno. I've not been out of the house since the 5th of July. Yes. It is getting old.

Thanks for the preview! I'm ready to pack my bags.

I'm probably gonna look like a kid in a candy store once I get to see that in person hehe

You won't be able to stop staring! I guarantee it!

Yes!!! I guarantee it!

That was a fluke! The rest of what I saw was green. It was funny though. I suspect they will be starting around September, but, I will be going over to Skyline Drive near the Blue Ridge this year! It's really pretty then!
