RE: Scavenging for Potatoes. Not Feeling too happy Because there is nothing to take Home

I feel for you dear @monica-ene - trying to grow food in harshconditions can be the most laborious of labours πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™πŸ™ Have you lookef into permaculture techniques, layering or forest gardening? Times like these with such intense weather turmoil, we can do a great deal to mitigate losses, by creating more stable microclimates.

It seems like you have a lot of ground to work with, and a lot could be done by diversifying plant types, better mulching techniques and land restructuring? A more diverse crop type, more local food plants, and protecting the soil with layers of either plants or mulching, can have enormous benefits.

There are often also specific solutions for particular pests like mice/ rats who look for tubers (we have cats!) - if you do a deep dive online, for natural solutions, something will pop up.

I wish you much better luck, joy, and mastery of your growing journey πŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’šπŸ’š and if I can help signpost your research in any way, please just let me know πŸ’
