Option two: Best performance
Explain a time when you performed at your best. What were the situation and the thoughts, attitudes, and actions you applied to cause you to perform so well? Have you managed to replicate that feeling again and if not, why not?

I am an introvert and one aspect about me is that I don't like to be the center of attention in public places and that is why I hate crowded places and would not feel comfortable going to an event alone without my friends or anyone that can keep me company. Most times, I find myself zoning out amid people and the church place is no exception.

I am a chorister but shy away from the crowd, I don't mind being a backup singer for anyone but I always reject any positing that has to do with me being the lead singer or vocalist.

I wouldn't say I am a shy person because I could be wild most times most especially in the midst of my close friends and family but I don't enjoy the attention.

Fortunately, for me, this very day, I was chosen by my song director to become the lead vocalist of one of our dialect songs. All my plea to my director to choose someone was refused, so I had no option but to pick up my shattered heart and listen attentively to the song in anticipation of the day I was going to present it. We all did rehearsals to perfect the song and I was asked to go back and practice the song more. I mean, I am not bad when it comes to singing but I am not always comfortable being a lead vocalist.

The D-day for my presentation came and the whole church was situated as that day was our choir seminar. I knew I was nervous and I knew I was going to break down even after much practice once I was in front of the crowd, so I picked up my phone and put a call across to a friend of mine who was always close to me.

We got talking and after I told him how I was feeling, he asked me to take a breathe in and out and sing the song for him. I began singing the song and after I was done, he told me I needed to put in more effort and I did it consciously while my anxiety reduced. At a point, he began singing the song alongside me and I immediately felt calm.

Immediately I was called upon and I performed magnificently to my amazement. When I came down from the stage, my director and the choir members were all amazed at our I performed beautifully.

When I got back home, I called him and told him how it went and he complimented my efforts. All I needed to do was talk to someone who knows how to encourage me and I was able to do well. Although I have not replicated that feeling after that day because I am yet to take up the role of a lead singer ever since that day and secondly, I have not been in contact with that person like I used to be.

I would love to want to do it again but my stage fright always makes me run away from it.

Sort:

Did you enjoy it enough to want to do it again?

Yeah but I am scared of the crowd.

Yeah I get that
