Our @BuddyUP community is growing and so is the quality content inside the POST POOL channels. Often, that content can be easily missed in the vast ocean of Steemit.

It’s our mission at BuddyUP to grow together, support each other and highlight the fantastic content that is created by our members. As part of that mission, we showcase talented content creators within the BuddyUP community, who also display a positive attitude and a community mindset, through our weekly curation post, Hook ‘Em Up!

I'm sure many of us know what it's like to get insincere spammy comments on our posts. There are a lot of Steemians that stop by, don't read, and then expect you to follow, upvote, and engage with them. Now, I know the Steemians reading this don't do that kind of thing but it does happen.

Our member @meno shares with us his thoughts and asks some good questions on these comments that shouldn't be so common is his latest post. Some of these comments turn out to be quite comical at times. Do these Steemians really get the upvotes, follows and engagement that they seek?

Does it work? - Of this, I'm not entirely sure. I happen to ignore them, but If most did, then the behavior should not continue to reign supreme as it does today.

Instead of getting angry at these Steemians that possibly don't know any better, @meno thinks that trying to educate them may not be so wrong and I agree. If these are real bleeding Steemians and not 'scammers' it could be possible to change this behavior. He also has a cool markdown trick for those that continue these comments after they've been warned.

I started doing something funny with some of the spammers that show up on my blogs. Specially if I see that they've been warned, that their rep score has been hit, but they've chosen to continue the behavior. If I'm convinced the tiny prank is warranted.

Get on over to @meno's post, listen to his advice, and leave a genuine comment just as I know you all can. If I find out that any of my buddies are doing this, I will come to your page and leave one of @meno's trick comments for you!

Our next member @thehive (represented by the awesome @jan23com) is actually a community that shares the same values as our @buddyup community ... helping Steemians thrive and grow on the Steemit platform. Getting started here is sometimes overwhelming and confusing and @thehive is always helping Steemians understand the growing world of Steemit.

The latest post from @thehive teaches us about our votes and rewards and gives us an easy to understand breakdown on the votes we give and receive plus the rewards that follow. He explains the three parts that make up our vote and shows us how our Steem Power determines our vote value.

In @thehive's breakdown, he shows us the technical side of voting and offers us a couple of sites that allow you to check your voting power, which is a good tool to have as that is what determines your voting weight. He also gives us advice about sliders, where to find them when your SP is below 500 and how to use them properly and he also explains what percentage of the payout goes to you and your curators.

Adjustments to this slider while you have a low SP will decrease the rewards you share to each post and negate your chances for a reward.
