The market of both countries

in Market Friday2 years ago

Hello everyone

Every morning around 3 am, my sister has to get up early to go shopping at Mae Sot market almost every day. Because her profession is buying things as ordered by customers. Her customers are Myanmar nationals who run grocery stores. And the products sold must be ordered from Thailand only. Because now within Myanmar there is fighting between Min Aung Hlaing troops and ethnic minorities along the border. My sister has been doing this job for about 2 years now it's hard work but with good pay. When I visited my sister and her family, I went to the market to help her shop almost every morning which is fun for me.

We arrive at the market around 4 am, which is when the market is very busy. People come to shop and buy a lot of things. Because Mae Sot market is a large retail and wholesale market it is next to the Myanmar border and is an important market in both Thailand and Myanmar. And now the Mae Sot market is hardly seen by Thai people. There are only Burmese people who come to work for Thai people. Some were business owners some were laborers because the wages of the Burmese people are cheaper than the wages of the Thai people. Most business owners, therefore, choose to employ more Burmese workers.

Inside the market, besides being crowded with people, the traffic is very heavy. Because in this market, people seem to ignore traffic rules. If you come here, you have to be careful that the car will jump or crash as well.

At Mae Sot market, fresh flower shops are selling both wholesale prices and retail prices. And here there will be a lot of people who make purchasing made-to-order. In the morning, people will drive a pickup truck to buy things as ordered by customers and deliver them to customers.

Phop Phra District, Tak Province most people are engaged in agriculture because the terrain and weather are suitable for cultivation. Mostly grow corn and plant vegetables when the produce is harvested, some farmers sell their vegetables at the Mae Sot market some of them have middlemen come to buy products right up to the farm. This is cabbage that farmers grow and sell themselves at the market for a higher price than selling to middlemen.

Mae Sot Market is another large vegetable market and is a market with a lot of money in circulation. Most of the goods are brought by merchants and taken to Myanmar for sale.

Mae Sot Seafood Market, part of the seafood is imported from Myanmar, especially the fish.

In the morning, there will be monks and novices going out for alms around at various shops. In the past, Buddhists would bring rice and food to the alms bowl. But nowadays, most people prefer to bring money to the alms bowl because most Buddhists have to work and don't have time to prepare food. Giving food to monks with money is therefore a convenient option.

By the time I bought everything that the customer had ordered, it was almost noon. I have to wait to pick up stuff at the car to arrange things in order and be able to put as much stuff as possible. Because some days, customers order a lot of stuff until it overflows with the pickup truck behind. If not well arranged can't deliver the items ordered by customers all at once.

Around 2:00 p.m., we returned home. When we get home, we have to bring the things we bought and separate them into heaps. Because there are many customers orders must be arranged separately for each person who orders. It took almost 2 hours to complete the separate arrangement. When they're done, they bring these items into the car to deliver the customers to the Moei River.

At the pier on the Rim Moei side, there will be boats of the Myanmar people docking at the pier waiting to receive the goods. Upon arrival, the Burmese people will come to pick up their belongings from the cars to be loaded onto the boat and taken to the customers on the Burmese side.

This is the Moei River that borders Thailand and Myanmar. Which is now the Thai side is closed to Myanmar people from crossing over to Thailand since the outbreak of COVID but still able to order from Thailand and deliver by boat only. The Moei River is a natural border that separates the two countries. People who live in that area hope that Thailand will soon open its borders so that traveling to and doing business together will be more convenient.*

Wow, that market is impressive. I'm amazed with all of the products it has and how early people go there. It has nothing to do with markets in Cuba. They open at 8 am and there are only few products. I loved your post. Thailand is great! 😊 Blessings.

Thank you for visiting my blog. Mae Sot market is open 24 hours a day and is always bustling.

I feel like I wanted to go to the flower section in your place, my friend, because the flowers are as beautiful as your. They were all rare and lovely. And the second thing would be the trendy clothes, they were so attractive especially the yellow and pink ones, hehe. Have a nice time my friend and take care.
