This league is not based around financial rewards and relates to engagement.
Everyone currently on my master list has a chance here - including those powering down or dealing in delegations over the past couple of weeks.
I've used some metrics (which is the fancy way of saying that made up some numbers) relating to:
- Posts (P)
- Comments - number of (C)
- Number of people spoken to (PS)
- Comments - replies to replies - depth > 2 (C R)
- Comments - length in characters (C L)
- Witness votes (W) (for those proxying witness votes, your total is always 30)
- Up-votes to others (V)
- Up-votes to different authors (U V)
- Self-votes - a small minus score for this one, sorry! (S V)
Firstly, if you are placed in the table above then you among the top 25% of the league entrants!
The top 100 places produced 825 top level posts this past week, and self-voted 195 times - less than once every 4 posts, impressive!

yes you should try it @glenalbrethsen, steemmonsters is an addictive once you try it. but there's so much fun too... I try to balance between engaging and gaming right now.. and engaging is more challenging than gaming if you want to know

I guess riverflow was asking the question about a two week tally? If that's what you're asking about, it doesn't look like Asher answered, and now he's in Poland, so not sure what we'll here from him as far as replies to this post go.
However, if things go the same way they have in the past when we've had a break, the week following has only been counted, with other week completely skipped. It certainly isn't going to hurt to keep up the engagement if at all possible, but with guests, I would imagine you have enough going on anyway.
Plus, there's always the other engagement contests to keep up on, even if this week ends up not being tallied at all.
I did ask Asher in a direct message and he told me that we have this week off. He said it's too much work to tally two weeks together. I don't see any reason to slow down.... I am having far too much fun!

I was the best in the curation league. And I basically only put in 10-15 minutes of effort. Having a strategy that is far from perfect.

Woo hoo!! I didn't realise I'd be so competitive with this one until I saw @mountainjewel above me in the first week! It's been fun though and I've loved getting to know more Steemians by making an effort to comment more - it's really what Steemit is all about!! If there is no post next Sunday, does that mean I can slow down this week and take a breather, or will you be tallying it over two weeks?
Stoked with the 1 Steem Prize, I had a terrible week last week but then by end of week had made a ton of new friends, had some great chats, won 10 steem for @jackdub's maker's challenge and had some fun interactions and learnt heaps there, actually REAL LIFE spoke to @mrprofessor before he heads from Brazil to Krakow, did a Dsnap upload for the first time of my husband - next week I'm gonna brave the camera myself maaaayyyybbbeee....and to top off my Sunday, beat @mountainjewel in the League tables. Phew. I might even sleep in in the morning!

Hi Asher, I am not sure if I am still in this curation league. According to Steemit.com I had >1 SP curation reward this past week. With an effective SP of just over 300, I think that should place me somewhere in the Top 10 if I were in contention. I am not currently powering down. Please confirm that I am still in.

Hi @abh12345 Asher. Great stuff, keeping engagement relevant and in focus on steemit. I'm happy to be mentioned and to be rewarded with some steem. I decided to stop self voting altogether this week for various reasons. I think it is kind of a hard thing to do for a lot of people and here's why.
When you arrive on steemit, in my case writing long-form creative works, the first thing you figure out is that there are a lot of people with higher SP self voting 'short-form', sometimes pretty questionable material, and that sort of sinks in on a subconscious level with quite a negative message, that this is how you earn. For me it was like sticking my head through the door of a house party which I thought was going to be really cool and getting told, 'your name's not down, your not coming in'.
Ha ha, relegated to hanging out under the tree in the cold with all the other small fry. My point is that a lot of people just assume that this is what you should do, self vote I mean. It takes a long while to get yourself out of that mind set and realize that it doesn't make all that much difference to your post, but that 100% vote could mean the difference between giving a new user the drive to continue on steemit. This is even more important now that steemit is quieter.

Yeah you are right about people generally following the lead of the big accounts with the 'short-form' content. And for some of them 50/60/70 a vote must be hard not to reward yourself. For pretty much everyone else, your own vote isn't going to make or break things and so I think it may as well go elsewhere.
As far as the leagues, it's only a small points deduction, but if there are a number then it could hinder your placing. Cheers, welcome!
Yeah, I think it is hard not to reward yourself even for a small user. But if I had a $70 vote, I'd still only self vote a post a day which had some type of body to it. Something that was giving something of some value to someone somewhere. Every other of my theoretical $70 votes would go to reward the content that I enjoy. Ha ha, #dreamingofbeingawhale
Those cynical people who seem to think that it is acceptable to vote their shit posts 10 times/day just because of the 'return on investment' argument can go swivel as far as I'm concerned. They can dress it up any way that they like but what they are doing is working on a take mindset and embracing their natural selfishness.
Ha ha, but we all know the issues on steem. You just gotta conduct yourself in a manner that is acceptable to your own moral compass and forget about what others do. Having said all that, I have managed to self-vote posts the past week without even thinking. On automatic pilot and just hit vote π
I'd do the same as you, it's unlikely that you'll need the STEEM if you have a vote like that - still, their stake, their choice.

The numbers of comments that people are throwing up are just astounding! This is what keeps the people here on the platform, else we're all just yelling into the wind.
There are so many inactive whales out there, how amazing would it be to use their stake on bots that upvote quality comments. Could change the whole platform!!
