7 Day Positivity Challenge Day 1 - It's In The Little Things

I was nominated by @snowpea to take part in the #7daypositivitychallenge and thought that this is an amazing way to highlight to myself every day what I am grateful for. It’s an excellent way for me to document the small things or big things that happen in my life that bring me joy.

Today I am really grateful for the small things in life. For the moments that capture my heart and bring a smile to my face. I experienced one such moment while my son was reading to me earlier today. We were both snuggled on the couch with Oreo, our Staffie, and he was reading so beautifully to me. It was also the first time I noticed that he no longer needs to use his finger in the book to keep his place. He’s even starting to read in special voices and making note that the sentences that are in dialogue punctuation need to be read in a certain way. I was one very proud mommy indeed. He still turned to me, smiled and said, “my reading put Oreo to sleep.” That was just a melt my heart away moment. It’s a moment that I will remember fondly for the rest of my life.

We can all find joy in the little things.

It’s the warmth of the sun on your face
It means you can feel.
It’s that beautiful sunset or sunrise
It means you can see.
It’s the way people you love hold you just a little bit tighter,
Like they want you to feel how much they love you
It means you are loved.
It’s when you wake up in the morning warm and healthy
It means you are blessed.

Just remember there are so many people out there
Who have no idea what some of these feel like.
