As I reflect on my winding year, as many of us will, a few things stand out. My family - time spent cultivating a stable environment surrounding my ambitions and desires for life, my friends - reconnecting on all forms of social interactions all the while being intentional of who I meet and let into my circles, and my professional development - growing my spheres of influence by voicing my views of a constantly evolving world. I gave a passing glance of myself during my #introduceyourself piece a few weeks ago yet I know to truly create a community of interactions I have to shed more of my layers in order to increase my connections with new people. So I'll have a go at it because we all have a story to tell...
"Hope is the quintessential of human emotions, both the source of our greatest strength and weakness.." Anonymous. It all begins with hope. For development, I will be intentional in my application of my Material Science background to share my views on extractive exploitative or equitable situations using examples of the topics interesting to me. Since I'm a BIG fan of upstream control, value addition, minerals, engineering, Pan Africanism, and fair trade - I will be writing plenty.
My wife and I are having our first baby! She is definitely going through 'changes' mid way through her first trimester, some of which I will write about. As a soon-to-be-father, the idea of posting the progress of our child on social media is a conflicting one. I'm 36 and grew up in a time when all we had for memories were actual pictures and even though I don't have many physical (or digital) memories of my childhood I like not having my entire life on the internet. My wife is different, she is 27 and loves everything social. Me? Not so much. The thought of having a digital footprint from the day I met my wife to the day our kid dies 100 years in the future petrifies me. So yeah I'll be writing about that too.
"Friendship is Essential to the soul.." Ophelema Philia Psurkis. I will intentionally foster and promote fulfilling friendships with people from all over the world. Because Steemit has given us the world at our fingertips. Literally. So I will travel the world using this platform, writing about those experiences.
